Pythagoras
Pythagoras was born on the island of Samos and later immagrated to Croton then Metapontum, both Greek city-states in Italy. He was born about 570 BCE. We know very little about him, mostly only myths. He supposedly recognized the mathematical relationships in many things, like music and geometry, and the reoccurence of numbers everywhere, in the seasons and in human actions, etc. He is credited with the discovery of the Pythagorean Theorem, and for other discoveries in geometry, such as drawing triangles and polygons, and bisecting the circle, many discoveries may have simply been attributed to him. Most of his philosophy was very mystical. He believed in metempsychosis, where the soul leaves the body upon death and enters into a newborn being, and therefore did not eat meat. He believed that he could clearly remember his past lives. He had a large number of followers over the course of nearly a thousand years, and may have established his own code of morality, including such moral laws as not eating beans and making sure that own's bedding does not leave the imprint of oneself after they have arisen for the day.
