Buddhism

I will reiterate, the following is merely my interpretation. My interpretation of some Buddhist thoughts on truth. I am not an expert on anything. Buddhism is extremely varied, vast, and prolific. Today, there is Theravada, Zen, Pureland, Yogacara, Tathagatagarbha, Madhyamaka, Tian Tai, Nichiren, Dzogchen, Gelug, Kadampa, Kagyu, Nyingma, Sakya, Jonang, Rime, and I'm sure there are many more that I'm ignorant of, let alone all of those through history that we have lost.

Here, so far, I tried to take what seemed to me like some important ideas from Santideva's Bodhicaryavatara. The following is a mix of direct quotes, paraphrases, and my interpretations of strategies being made use of, in my own words.

Change your self-conceptualization: 1) Daoism - part of nature 2) Stoicism - part of god 3) Vedanta - same as everything else, including Brahman 4) Buddhism - there is no you

Adoring, praising, worshipping, performing actions or being virtuous (like modesty, humility, etc.) what one believes one should and one believes will get returns, merit, etc. or avoid punishments.

Doing what one believes will benefit others.

Always remaining mindful of treating the current moment or life or something else as a rare, precious, good, fortunate opportunity not to be squandered, that might never return if not taken full advantage of, to escape the bad situation on is currently stuck in.

This message is the only remedy to evil, and only way to happiness, and source of real power, value, security, and reverence.

Your past sins or station is not a hindrance, but you are evil and wretched without this and to lay the guilt on thick to appreciate the liberation.

The utmost authorities assert this doctrine, have concern for you, have power to help you, have refuge and faith in security of a higher power, a savior or better great (a meditation on their annhilating fear and evil) multiple saviors.

Resolve and commitment cannot be reversed, though there may be difficulties and distractions.

Remarkable specialness of this ideal.

If x is praised or criticized how much more so this Y. Use of amounts, even taken to limitless.

Evil action is difficult, pure action comes effortlessly.

Harms will lead to your happiness.

More to come later.
