Barry Stroud
Barry Stroud admits the validity of Descartes's argument but he thinks that we must have a reason to doubt but that alternative possibilities are a reason to doubt unless all of them are known to be false. He also thinks that one should not be satisfied with our epistemic prison, persupposing, in my view, that there is an external world. Ultimately, he is fine with rejection of skepticism because of its inevitable negative conclusions.
